Maybe this is why there are safety straps on a baby swing....

Conner is 4 months old today...as of 12:24 pm. Hard to believe this time 4 months ago I was in recovery after a c-section. It's been a long and short 4 months. He's sleeping through the night now and has been for about a month..and "through the night" really means through the night: I can put him down for nite-nite between 7:30 and 9:30 and he's out until 6:30 or 7 am the next morning! I never thought he would sleep through the night. He was constantly getting up every 2-3 hours hungry. Just when I thought I couldn't take it anymore, he slept from 7 pm to 7 am. Of course I stayed up until 1 am staring at him, waiting for him to wake up.

Aidan loves him. Aidan is jealous of him. I can't take a picture of Conner without hearing Aidan say, "No, Mama, take picture of Aidan-not Conner." Ah, life with a baby and a toddler. Speaking of Aidan, he has a birthday next week! I really can't believe he will be 2 years old! His favorite word is "no," he loves playing with his cars, he loves to swim, and just when I am on the brink of insanity with his whining, he stops, smiles, and says "I love you, Mama."

Now to get a little serious...I can't help it! I'm sentimental about my kids right now. I believe God has revealed a part of himself to me through my children. The first child, whom we lost, taught me to have faith in God. Real faith. I am reminded of a verse from Romans- Romans 8:28: "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." Aidan taught me how to have hope in God. I remember the agony of trying to have a baby. The months that would go by and still no positive on the pregnancy stick. And Conner- well Conner has taught me how to trust God. I remember the day I found out I was expecting him: July 22, 2006. I was holding a barely one-year old Aidan in one hand and a positive Clear Blue Easy in the other. How in the world could I possibly handle 2 children!!?? That's when I heard a small voice say, "Don't worry- trust me." It ain't easy but I can't imagine my life any other way.
